The terms “diet” and “nutrition” have different definitions, but they obviously linked. “Diet” refers to a person’s actual daily food and liquid intake while “nutrition pertains to the science of dealing with food and nourishment. It’s never too late to change your eating habits, but before you make changes, learn the common diet and nutrition mistakes in order to avoid them.

Here are some common diet issues: .

1.Don’t think your food choices are more beneficial to you than they really are. People who are very choosy about diet and nutrition are more likely to believe that their food choices are healthier than they really are. It is always advisable to eat whole, fresh, and unprocessed foods whenever possible.  Don’t pretend that because you had a reasonable dinner last night, its time for an all-out lunch extravaganza the next day.

2. Try for reasonable portion sizes. You can eat almost anything if you are careful about the amount. One of the most common mistakes people make is that they overestimate or misjudge the amount of food they need.

3. Carbohydrates are not the problem. When diet people talk about “bad carbs” they take issue with things like white flour, sugar and processed white rice. Good carbs would are foods like fresh fruits, vegetables and  wholegrain bread. It is much better to stay away from bad carbs but not necessarily the good ones.

4. Try 4-5 small meals a day vs 1-2 larger meals. Overeating and eating only 1-2 times day may put an individual’s health at risk because it disrupts insulin levels. Instead of 1-2 large meals, it is better to keep your metabolism burning calories with 4-5 small meals a day. The human body is a very finely tuned machine that decides famine is here and should conserve energy if a lot of time passes in between meals.Eat something every 2-3 hours and don’t get overly hungry before eating the next meal.

5. Try to get regular exercise.
